A day at Gyeongbokgung.

Our Korean Society and Culture Class had our Field Trip at Gyeongbokgung Palace - which is one of the most visited historical places and tourist spots here in Seoul. This palace was where the King and Queen of the earlier dynasty, Joseon Dynasty to be exact, used to live.

We were able to watch the changing of the guards Ceremony at the Gwanghamun gate; it takes place daily - one at 10am and another at 3pm.

"Geunjeongjeon" or the Throne Hall - is the largest and most formal place in the palace. This is where the king grants audiences to the officials, presides official functions and meet other foreign officials.

Ancient Kimchi Jars used in the earlier times were displayed in one of the houses.

"Gyeonghoeru" Pavillion in my background! It was where feasts are held. It floats on a man-made lake with a man-made hill across called Manesan.

Gangnyeongjeon or the King's Quarters - has 9 rooms with ondol (heated floors) on the left and right, and wooden floor on the middle. The king lived in the central room.

Funny thing that happened today was our Professor completely forgot about our activity today! I called her when we arrived at the meeting place and she told me it slipped in her mind! She explained she was out of town the previous day and her alarm didn't ring and blabla~ But since we're already there, she had no choice but to rush to us. So while she's on the way, she asked us to visit the Gwanghamun Plaza first. ;)

Oh my First Semester

This week we've already signed up for our schedules in the GEO Clinic. As we were told, we have to be in the GEO lounge to be English Assistants for 10h per week, plus additional 30h for the whole semester. I was glad that I was able to fit all that additional 30 hours into my already tight schedule (5 subjects and 10h/week EC) and still be able to join the free KL classes every Wednesday. My schedule below might be in Hangul but it just means that I'm gonna be busy as a bee for the next months. :| :)

Guess my homesickness would be diverted to something already.

Major major weekend.

After my Japanese friends' visit are over, I thought that I can have a good rest and go back to my bum life for a while before I head to Korea. But it turned out that my flight for Korea was already booked last Monday, so I had a rush preparation. As in really really rush. I tried to pack wisely but everytime I tried, I fail. Hahaha. I mean, how can a girl squeeze in all her things in a baggage that would not exceed 20kg? (The airlines allows 20kg free baggage only. Ugh.). I had to pick the things I need to bring very wisely, but I guess I can never really bring everything right? That week was a struggle for me really. Haha Specially during the weekend. So whatever, I still exceeded 3kg even though I almost left everything back. Haha!

While this Korea thing is going on, the release of the NLE results were simultaneously happening as well. So I really am torn between 2 major things at the moment. I was donating blood for my brother's school thing when the results were released. I was still recovering when a friend of mine told me that the Top 10 were already announced, then my bestfriend called me as well, and she told me that we didn't get 100% so my anxiety was really heightened, I was even thinking that I might not get in. So I immediately ran back home to check. Unfortunately, the site's so slow because everyone's already accessing it. Good thing my friend texted me and told me that we made it! I called her right that moment to confirm and voila, I passed! I never thought I'd cry over that news because I thought that's a bit an overreaction but my tears just fell HAHAHA

So yeah, I passed the NLE and now I'm here in Korea to study again. How major is that right? If you're gonna ask me what I'm up to now at the moment, well, I'm just contemplating on everything that had happened this pas weekend plus adjusting to the things here in Korea. So far, I'm doing good and I haven't really encountered something really Korean.

Let's tidy up, shall we?

For the past 3 months that I've been studying, I haven't really had the time to fix my room and I admit it, it has been really catastrophic. My personal things and my books were scattered all over the place and my bed became my study table-slash-dining area-slash-sleeping mattress. Now that its already over, I can already start accomplishing my "After NLE-list". Hohoho :) So, first on my list, is to tidy up my room. Yey! I've started last Tuesday and I just finished yesterday (talk about some major cleaning hahaha)

My bedroom slippers were missing, and I was like "Oh its just on my bedside table." :D



I posted the mnemonics hoping to stock them all in my mind, but unfortunately I only memorized a few. HAHA :)

I've already stacked a few coffee sachets so that I won't have to go downstairs to get one in the middle of the night. Hahaha

My clothes were piled up in one of my bookshelves :)

My bags and things from the dorm were scattered under my drawer. Thank God for large boxes anyway ;)

It was a pleasure reading you guys, I'll miss flipping your pages and highlighting your texts. :)
