A day at Gyeongbokgung.

Our Korean Society and Culture Class had our Field Trip at Gyeongbokgung Palace - which is one of the most visited historical places and tourist spots here in Seoul. This palace was where the King and Queen of the earlier dynasty, Joseon Dynasty to be exact, used to live.

Newly changed royal palace guards in front of the Gwanghamun Gate

We were able to watch the changing of the guards Ceremony at the Gwanghamun gate; it takes place daily - one at 10am and another at 3pm.

"Geunjeongjeon" or the Throne Hall - is the largest and most formal place in the palace. This is where the king grants audiences to the officials, presides official functions and meet other foreign officials.

Ancient Kimchi Jars used in the earlier times were displayed in one of the houses.

"Gyeonghoeru" Pavillion in my background! It was where feasts are held. It floats on a man-made lake with a man-made hill across called Manesan.

Batch 4 with Professor! ;) (L-R) Lia, Me, Prof EunMi, Kerwin, Karla

Gangnyeongjeon or the King's Quarters - has 9 rooms with ondol (heated floors) on the left and right, and wooden floor on the middle. The king lived in the central room.

Funny thing that happened today was our Professor completely forgot about our activity today! I called her when we arrived at the meeting place and she told me it slipped in her mind! She explained she was out of town the previous day and her alarm didn't ring and blabla~ But since we're already there, she had no choice but to rush to us. So while she's on the way, she asked us to visit the Gwanghamun Plaza first. ;)

With King Kerwin HAHAHA

(L-R) Kerwin, Fr. Justin, Fr. Eby, and Jinu wearing the king's dress. :)

Adm. Yi Sun-sin's statue on the background (Korea's hero) ; his face is on the 100 won (baek won) coin.

King Sejong's ststue - the Hangul inventor; his face is on the 10,000 won (man won) bill.

Did I mention Korean kids are so cute? They were all over the place! They're too adorable I wanna take them home! Hihi x) :")

This little girl is wearing Hanbok! Almost all tourists that saw her had a picture with her, hehe :)
Too adorable! :")

This cute kid wearing the king's costume also - he speaks English! ;)
Don't we look alike? Hoho My long lost brother! =))

So that's how our Sunday went. Good start of the week, I must say. :)
